Band coaching in Mitrovica

Since the first week of October 2008, regular rock music lessons have been organized in North and South Mitrovica, under the guidance of the band coaches recruited after the Summer School (see Who’s who). The focus is on band coaching, but students also receive individual and group lessons as needed. The aim is to create a new generation of musicians who can start restoring Mitrovica's tradition as a center for rock music, while training highly skilled musicians to work as rock music instructors on the basis of demand-driven learning.

Because the current situation in Mitrovica does yet allow kids from both sides of the city to attend one, inter-ethnic music school, band coaching has been started in two branches, one in the North and one in the South. In total, the two branches now have over 70 students and waiting lists. The CBM project manager coordinates the branch in the North and works closely with the coordinator of the branch in the South to ensure that the two branches share the same image, policies and didactic approach. The students work in bands and, where necessary, receive individual lessons on their instruments.
