New projects in Mostar and Srebrenica
In 2012, Musicians without Borders is launching two new projects in Bosnia-Herzegovina: the Mostar Rock School and From Woman to Woman.

Mostar Rock School
The city of Mostar suffered heavily during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and was left with a fierce divide between its Bosniak and Croat communities.

In 2012, Musicians without Borders launched the Mostar Rock School, a long-term reconciliatory music project based on the model of the Mitrovica Rock School. The Mostar Rock School will be launched in August with the 2012 Skopje Summer School, for 76 musicians from Mostar, Mitrovica, Struga and the Netherlands. Lessons will start at the Mostar Rock School in October 2012.

From Woman To Woman (Srebrenica and Tuzla)
In the refugee camps around Srebrenica, Dutch and Bosnian female musicians sing with women who have survived the loss of their husbands, fathers and sons. Music helps the women to heal the wounds and return to life.

The From Woman to Woman project is in the development phase. Musicians without Borders and Snaga Zene have drawn up an implementation plan and are in the process of raising funds to begin activities towards the end of 2012.

Musicari Bez Granica closes office
Long-term MwB partner and namesake Musicari Bez Granica, also known as Musicians without Borders Bosnia-Herzegovina (MwB BiH), ended its operations in 2012. Due to increasing difficulties in raising funds for its own operations and accountability issues towards parent organization Musicians without Borders International, MwB International and MwB BiH agreed that the local organization would wind up its activities and close its office in 2012.

With MwB BiH closing office, Musicians without Borders International has entered into partnerships with two local organizations:

Srebrenica Music Theater project completed
After eight years of successful activities for children of all ethnic backgrounds in the Srebrenica area, Musicians without Borders completed the project at the end of 2011. We are happy and proud to see the young trainer team continue its activities with the support of the Srebrenica Youth Council.
