Classical Concert by Valentina
Tóth and
Trio d'Anches
It was 15 years old classical pianist Valentina's first
performance as Musicians without Borders' Youth Ambassador.
In March 2009, she had played in a benefit concert in
Friesland for MwB's Music Bus in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Valentina's
feels connected to the children in MwB's projects by her
love of music, the emotions it expresses and the healing
effect she experiences when playing the piano. As a youth
ambassador Valentina hopes to contribute to the well-being
of children living in conflict zones in other parts of
the world.
She specifically hopes to raise money for musical instruments
for children.
"When I cannot play the piano for a while, I feel
miserable. So I can imagine how these children must feel
if they can forget their daily stress for a moment by
playing music together", Valentina said in an interview.
In her concert on 28 November, she played compositions
by Grieg, Debussy and Chopin.
Valentina also recorded a video message for the children
of MwB's Music Bus program:

Trio d'Anches

Valentina shared the program with Trio d'Anches, an exciting
combination of three solo wind players: Hans Petra (clarinet),
Irma Kort (oboe) and Janet Morgan (bassoon), all principal
members of the Holland Symfonia orchestra. Irma Kort is
also a member of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE)
and actively involved in MwB's work to promote the oboe
and improve wind music education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In an interview during the concert she spoke about her
personal experiences in Sarajevo and Banja Luka. Irma
gave oboe lessons and master classes, taught ensemble
groups and was guest soloist with MwB's Bosnian youth
winds ensemble Winds of Change.
The evening was presented by Johan Dorrestein, member
of the Board of Directors of Musicians without Borders
and former director of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble
(NBE).
The audience enjoyed an intimate, beautiful evening
with splendid classical music and also learned more about
our organization and our projects. This was greatly appreciated,
and MwB hopes to organize this type of event in the future.
